I stopped using a radar detector about 5 years ago.

There are too many cops around here that are using the instant-on radar and laser. Ass soon as that detector chirps, they have your speed.

I just stick to about 10 over the speed limit, or I manage to get in with a pack of people.

intuition is sometimes best.

but for the most part, I stick around 7mph over the limit.

Really good thread! keep it going. Id like to hear more reviews/personal opinions on laser jammers and instant on.

I m still debating which radar to get (V1 or Escort) after getting a speeding ticket. Nothing is guaranteed I was in a pack of car, as a matter of fact the last car in the pack, and still got the ticket. This is my first ever speeding ticket in 14 years of driving. Cops pick on sport cars if they are not sure about the speeder my 2 cents

My Escort has saved my ass countless times, and I love to speed. When I do get nailed, I always get an attorney: my five year record is spotless, and that also helps if you do get pulled over.

My V1 saved me last night. I was driving home after a party (3am, I was the designated driver) and as I get on the freeway I get a strong Ka signal from back that keeps getting stronger, and I am going 80, so I slow down to 75 for two miles and the signal is still there. At this point I am wondering, wtf is going on, because I also saw another patrol car with lights on a half mile in front of me driving about 80. So, the one in front gets off the highway, and finally a highway patrolmen pulls up next to me, flashes his white light at me, and then drives off.

I think they were looking for drunk drivers.

As long as the police are still using radar/laser to track speeders, detectors will always be useful.

You've been driving since you were 13?

My V1 saved my butt this evening on the way home from the office!! It has been well worth the money. IMO you can't go wrong with a V1, 8500 x50, or 9500i
