EDIT: This is the other top gear R8 / 911 video (Carrera 2S), not the OP's GT3 video with the crash and JC not driving for a while. I thought it was the right one, but the GT3 video isn't up at the moment.

But the best thing about the R8 vs 911S video is Richard sliding his 911 for about 150 ft sideways! That was awesome!

This seems like a set up, especially because the camera that "caught" the incident seems to have a fairly good angle to film the crash.
