I went to Bert's Motorcyle Mall in Covina and sat on both. Although the RR is noticably heavier the seating position and handle bar position is much more suitable for my taste. I prefer the more forward (over the handlbar) position... theres a pic for comparison.. side by side

i was interested in both like most others. i went with the rr because of a numbers of reasons, which include:
1) price. locally in la, one dealership wanted 11k otd. (yeah f@cking right, hollywood yamaha actually said to my friend and i quote: friend "i'm looking for a r6" dealer "hahahaha you're f*ked"). if you could get one that is. they're almost all sold out. seems like yamaha only makes so much. (blah) and integrate refered me to a dealership where i got a great deal with my bud. (no gas though, they didnt even wash the sucka)
2) size. being pretty short (5'9) and not weighing much (145lbs) you would think i would like a r6 better. nope. i actually like the way the rr feels. it just feels right to me. handle bar postionis great, as is the pegs.
3)looks. i wanted a more subtle look. must be my old age. but i like the clean lines of the rr more than the r6. r6 seems a little "ricer" to me. ("flame on" says the human torch ) negated by my choice of colors (yellow. doh!)
4) honda finace. great interest rate. no payments for 90 days. and no credit card. no gimicks unlike yamaha's financing.
well those are some reasons for buying a rr over a r6. for me, whatever bike i chose, had tall shoes to fill. (last bike was a 998r). ive riden both and both are super nice. but, i've barely scuffed the tires so i'm sure i'll have more to say later.

Both are very good bikes and I wouldn't mind either of them.
I went for the R6 for a few reasons: -
I found the R6 a little more comfortable than the RR
I use a race shift (upside down) and I can get Giles rearsets for the R6 that let me do this. When I asked the Honda dealer how I would change they said uhh!
I have a Yamaha dealer less than half a mile from my house. The nearest Honda dealer is 10 miles away (in the wrong direction).
After Honda launched their court action against parallel importers in the UK I said I would never buy another Honda bike.
So I traded my 02 R6 in for an 03 R6
.... and I couldnt give a fcuk about which one is ever so slightly quicker on the track cause I don't plan to race it competitively.

What about the Suzuki SV650? I still haven't decided on a bike, I was told this is a good bike, does this mount up to the other two? I wouldn't get this as a first bike, I'm going to get a 500 first, but I love the look of them.
