Results are not what you'd expect.
First the test is ONLY ONLY ONLY I-6 or V6 so that will explain why the 300C did not win (IMO).
So in other words this is a test of mid-full size cars with 6 cylinder power. That is a big point.
The fastest car was the CTS with its new V6 (3.6L 255hp 252 TQ) 1/4 mile 15.0 sec@91.9 mph.
The Volvo S80 (3.0L I-6 tt with 268hp 280 TQ) was 15.1sec@94.6 mph.
Look at the V6 Chrysler 300 (3.5L 250hp 250 TQ) 0-60 8sec 0-100 22.3sec 1/4 16.1@87.2 mph
300C (hemi) not tested (5.7L V8 340hp 370 TQ) 0-60 5.5sec 0-100 13.8sec 1/4 14.1@101.1mph
So the HEMI takes 8.5sec off the 0-100 time for the 300
OK the Chrysler was the cheapest car by far. The 300C (hemi) not tested would still be the cheapest car in the test. The V6 300 tested was $34K a loaded 300C (hemi) is around $37K but you can get one for $34K I believe.
I know the test was not for V8s and if it was the CTS-V would have beaten the 300C. But the V costs close to $50K. The V6 CTS costs around the same as the 300C (hemi). The CTS tested cost $44K.
Here is the order from worst to first:
7th S80 ($48K)
6th 530i ($54K)
5th A6 ($43K)
4th 300 ($34K)
3rd S-type ($49K)
2nd E320 ($50K)
1st CTS (44K)

The 300 is going to sell better than any car in this test.
The 300 cost is like a 3 series but it's size is like a 7 series. Therefore it's a lot of car for the money and a lot of bang for the buck.

I agree with Rai, the 300C is going to sell like hotcakes. I see a pretty good revival with Chrysler in the near future.

I'm not a Chrysler guy, my only experience with DC was my mom had an Aires K-car. And I've driven a Dodge minivan, PT Cruiser and Neon on occasion.
Jamie Kitman (Automobile magazine) says the 300C is the best full size RWD American car ever. He says the hemi powered 300C is like a low-RPM high-TQ E-class with American style. Interior materials are not up to the best in class, but not as bad as we are used to from American cars.
I really think the V8 makes the car, however the low price entry level V6 starts at $24K and I don't think it's out of the question to knock off a few grand from that.

Ok.. here is my question... Will the 300C give the crown victoria a run for its police money???
After the demise of the Caprice, the only full size, RWD, V-8 american car for police duty was the crown vic. Now that DC has the 300c with its RWD, full size and V-8, will the cops start using this car?
It sounds like the 300c will not be substantially more than the crown vic and the crown vic is pretty old... Anyone thought about this?

They torpedo'd the 5 series on styling and ergonomics (i-drive). I don't want to deminish the value of subjective results, because I think in many cases that's more important than hard numbers, but there is a such thing as personal preference, and in this case I think they stepped over the line a bit. Anyone considering the 5 has already taken these issues into account.
