purpose of dual exhaust
just curious... whats the benefits of having a dual exhaust (ie our cars)?
lots of sports cars have them and now some SUVs have them.
I dont think ive heard a good reason why cars have them.

Many times it is aesthetics.
BUt as Jimmies said, proper exhaust scavenging is part of it. You need to create proper flow velocity to ensure the quality of the flow is high. From that, you get scavenging, which leads to a more power output.
"Dual exhaust" is a very broad term anyways.

On our cars, strictly aesthetics.

Do you have any idea how brutally LOUD a single can get? My 70mm dual sparrow is at my maximum tolerance point already. I can't imagine how deaf 70mm single can make you.

I had the Buddy Club Spec III exhaust or whatever it was on my old '05 S2000. It was a incredibly damn loud single. I actually started wearing earplugs while driving to work. I must have pissed off so many people driving that thing. It actually seemed to tone down and get quieter (or at least not drone) while in VTEC, so I started hitting VTEC as much as possible.

That's because its engineered to be loud - it has nothing with being a dual or single.
