Chipped? 1.1 bar? I have a feeling that chipped has something to do with the computer. But 1.1 bar? What's that for and whats it do?

1.1bar is a unit of pressure just like PSI(pounds per square inch)

1Bar = 14.5 psi
1.1Bar = 16psi

So when I say 1.1bar chip I mean the turbo is remaped by the ECU to run at 1.1Bar or 16psi up from the stock 10-11psi.

I'm interested in the one www.goapr.com offers. Do you have any experience with it?

yes...APR is one of the best ones out there. You can get up to 3 different programs in one chip.
Stock Program (so dealers cant detect it)
93 octane program
100 octane program etc....

of course higher octane...more power/torque/boost...

APR and GIAC...2 of the best out there

check the 1.8T board on vwvortex.com

Few mods I can recommend:

APR 100+ octane chip ($500 ish)
Techtonics Tuning exhaust (sounds very nice)
K04 turbo upgrade, such as from an Audi TT (Guy has it on his MK4 Jetta, one of the quickest jetta's around here)
Neuspeed/dieselgeek short shift kit
dogbone motor mounts

If you have a few grand to spend though, go with APR stage 3 turbo kit.
