Hey guys. I was hoping you all can help me out. I finally was able to find a buyer (friend) for my old 95 Mercedes for $3000. What is the process that I need to take to complete the transaction. He will be paying me in cash. Do I just sign over the title to him, get the money+tag+registration, and give him the keys? Or is there more to it. What about tax? Need some help sionce it is my first time selling a car.

Write up a bill of sale (a piece of paper saying you sell him car XYZ, VIN# WHATEVER, for X dollars on whatever the date is.

Sign and record the appropriate mileage on the title. DON'T F IT UP!!! If you do, your friend will be screwed when he goes to the DMV. Trust me.

He'll pay taxes when he registers the car.
