Equip the E550 or the 550i to the same level as the Genesis and you are looking at WELL north of 70k.

The real issue is that it will depreciate beyond the 15k difference in price from the BMW 5. It may be a good deal on the front end, but the BMW will retain value better.

So, $2,000 more than the 4.6. Really, if I were to get the car the V6 would be plenty of power, and I'd still end up with the 5.0R. The V8 was a steal at $1,500 more than the V6 w/ premium and tech packages, which I would want.
Saying it's $15,000 less than the 550i doesn't really tell the whole story either. Base price of the Genesis V8 models comes loaded. You're looking at another $10,000 in options for a comparably equipped 550i. So, the Bimmer is basically half again as much. Cost no object I'd certainly take a the 5 series, but the Genesis 5.0R is 335i price range and not particularly well equipped 335i price range at that.

The biggest mistake Hyundai ever did was not open another Premium brand. It worked so well for the Japanese, they should've just copied like they do everything else.

Well it appears that some of you guys just don't get it and are still
My father has owned a Genesis and currently an Equus. I can't tell you how many times he gets compliments on it, granted he did remove the silly flying H symbol on the car. Just continue spending fortunes on an overrated car.
What does the Mercedes E550 do at 50K? Wait you can't. Once you add the same features as the Genesis R your are staring at $68,000 minimum! You're still down 40hp and an 7-speed tranny... Your already down $18,000 easily... Even the Genesis R has a 7.1 surround sound system, the Merc 5.1...
Then maintenance... My father-in-law has a Mercedes S550, granted its in the S class. He would be the first one to tell you that Maintenance for a Mercedes is a joke. Go in for a $300 service and walk out without your first born.
My eyes and ears are open.

I'm confused. At the Hyundai website, the Genesis sedan photos show the Hyundai H. Exterior and interior. I'm no Hyundai expert, so could be misinterpreting something?
