I'd love a Z06 and may well trade in my S for one in the next few years. The Z06 is in my opinion at a whole different level of performance than the S. Sure you might give up some build quality but the raw animalistic effects of the power train will give you a much bigger smile. Anyway, why don't you browse some of the Vette forums for an idea of what the car you

It's a torque monster, you will be correcting the front end, then the rear end from all the torque. From what I've read it's a good 8/10th street and track car but driving 10/10ths wouldn't inspire confidence.

Most of them come with the stability control option. You can drive like an idiot without ever spinning it out, unlike a certain un-named Japanese 2-seater convertible.

You're still going to be doing the hula dance, even with the Competition Driving mode of the Active Handling on, it's a difficult car to drive smooth since you will going sideways whenever you fire the throttle. I know a guy in town with various driving schools and auto-x days worth of experience that flipped even his Z, so the computerized aid isn't fool proof.

A Z06 is a LOT less twitchy at the limit than an S2000. I've driven both on the track. As long as you can control your foot, then you can modulate the throttle and not spin out.

$35k for an '03 Z06 in good shape is a decent price.

You should be able to buy them for $35k all day long so don't let the price be a major factor. I'd wait to do the same for the C6 version.
