Default Premium Price for S2000?

I stopped by a Honda dealership for the first time in a while and was surprised to see that they are still asking roughly $2,500 over MSRP for S2000s. The ADM consisted of some combination of just a straight up price jack of $2,000 and add ons such as paint and fabric sealer, etc. Is this still pretty normal around the country? They had 10 cars.

According to Carsdirect.com (no affiliation) a new S2000 can be hand in the bay area for $31,034. I believe thats the price you can buy the car for through them. The MSRP was $33,995.
I think the ADM on these cars is long since over unless the dealer thinks they can trick people.
Then again, I've seen lots of Honda dealers trying to add dealer BS to all sorts of cars. The usual pinstripe and paint sealer stuff for $1000. I don't even consider it as part of the price of the car.

You can get $3k+ plus off sticker, certainly not on top of MSRP.

There is a reason that they still had 10 unsold cars sitting on the lot...

Yeah, my local dealer has a yellow '04 that still has a $35k sticker price. You'd think that they would maybe get the picture by now.

True true. . . "they" would then try to persuade you to put your cash down half on an S2K, and half on a Ridgeline (or compoarble), because, "You'll need something 'practical." Then, you just turn around and start walking. . . and the dance begins.

. . . and yeah, makes you wonder why they have 10-11 S2000's sitting on the lot. . . are they waiting for *that many* stupid S2K buyers? Good luck with that one. . . .

They may want to finance but they will take cash(the tears are not real). Sometimes the best way is to set the deal up as though you were going to finance then change your mind when the price is set. Don't let them get away with "remembering'' additional fees when they find out that you are a cash buyer.

You definitely need to do some comparison shopping. These cars are definitely available for a little over invoice or better. I'd look pretty hard at this dealer. His service department won't be any better particularly if he's the only game in town. He must think it's still the 1970's.
