Default Prelude motor

How much is a brand new Prelude motor from Honda?

Also, does anyone know where to find an ECU compatible with the JDM Prelude motor (220 hp)?

Thanks.

When my '94 when into the dealer for head work (back in October), the service department manager quoted me a price of approximately $3K + installation. . .

No idea about the cost of a motor from Honda, although you can most certainly get a low mileage Prelude motor from many sources, especially JDM motors. The 2.2 used typically goes for $2,200-$2,500-$2,900 (less $ than B motors). As for the ECU you might try www. jdmhondaparts.com or other folks who handle such parts, motors, etc.

the reason I'm asking is because my friend just had a Type S H22 motor put in his 2001 Prelude SH. Hoever, the shop didn't know if he would need a new ECU. Now they are left with 2 options: either get a ECU to go with the new motor or break down the motor and tinker with it.

Well the japanese h22a with the red valve cover is 220hp, which if you order an engine from japan.. chances are your not gonna get that one unless you dish out at least $3500, the h22a with the black valve cover is 200hp, which those are the motors they usually bring down from japan.. and are alot cheaper, and the one with the blue valve cover is destroked to 2.0. If he needs an OBD2 ecu without the immobilizer, I have one of those.

Why would your friend swap out the motor of his new 2001 already h22a1 eqipped motor for pretty much the same thing?
