As if the Porsche Cayanne SUV was not offensive enough to the Porsche faithful, it now appears that Porsche will make 4 door sedan. [sarcasm]Finally the car that true Porsche enthusiasts have been clammoring for for decades - a FOUR door Porsche 928!! [/sarcasm]

Money's money, whether it comes from a "true Porsche enthusiast" or not.
The "true Porsche enthusiasts" are still whining that Porsche's making water-cooled and non-rear-engined cars. Meanwhile, false Porsche enthusiasts like myself are just buying the cars and driving the wheels off of them.

I can see why Porsche wants to make one, now that Maserati has one out. That concept pic has been around for a while now, but I hope that's not their final revision. It's not very pretty, and rear headroom in that thing would be about as practical as the back seat in an SC430. All it is now is a 911 with a side opening trunk.
It need better, less sophomoric proportions.

They've been talking about that one for years. I'd be surprised if it happened -- I don't think it would sell too well.
An unconventional chop top/hatchback bastard of a big sedan will not appeal to the conservative buyers in that market.

I think you mean the CLS. It is about to come out here in the states. It's set for relatively low volume production, and based on the buzz it will sell out very quickly.
I think this is a much more natural fit for Porsche than the Cayenne. I bet they could make a great sports sedan.

M-B will sell tons of CLSs. I've seen it in person, and it is remarkably tiny...I'd say barely, if at all, bigger than a 911, and very muscular. It's one car that pictures do no justice to. Much more impressive in person.

I was next to one in my Accord and it was longer than my car. My Accord is definitely bigger than a 911...
The CLS is 191.6" long by 72.2" wide by 54.2" tall. A 911 (997) is 175.6" long by 71.7" wide by 51.4" tall. That's 16" shorter, .5" narrower, and nearly 3" lower. 16" is a lot in a car....
Definitely a nice car, though. I'd love to have one, just on looks alone.
