What's with the little loops of seatbelt material hanging on the door panels? That looks terrible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: You can't cost-effectively "add on" light weight after the fact. Boxster/Cayman should have been smaller/lighter 4-cylinder-only cars. A decontented "lightweight" version, that still weighs 2800 lb.? No thanks, I can decontent a used Boxster S for way cheaper. And doesn't the PDK add 70 lb.? Shoulda stuck with the normal 6-speed trans.
Too late for this iteration Boxster/Cayman to be remotely "lightweight". Here's hoping the next-gen models will have more 914 dna (except the styling!).

Y'all are nuts. 2800 lbs in a modern car and including stuff like with quasi-racing buckets is too soft or too heavy? Jeebus. I love lightweight, and I have a Lotus so I understand it. But this is a sweet, sweet car. IMHO of course.

I guess I see it differently. If you need A/C or a Radio, I would think you'd be able to get it back into the car. However, for just $4500 more than a base Boxster S and for the same coin as a Cayman S you get.
- sport suspension
- sport seats
- 19's
- LSD
- various aero parts
- reduced weight
- 10 more hp
Given the cost of Porsche options, just the 1st 3 would normally cost you $4500. Also note that the GT3 RS loses a grand total of 44 lbs from the GT3 for a ton more money.
With all due respect to all the "if its not sub 2400 lbs., the car is a POS" people, 2811 lbs is a light car today. Hell, even my designed in the early 90's ITR with a massive 1.8L up front weighed over 2600 lbs. Furthermore, to those who miss the "good old days," forgetting the advances in safety, reliability, and refinement, you forget how far we have come with tires, braking, suspension, and chassis technology within the past 2 decades and all these together can offer a superior driving experience despite the weight penalty (up to a certain point at least). While less weight is always better, weight ALONE has never been nor will ever be the end all be all in performance.
Also, I'd like to add that if Honda had given us a S2000 CR with 10 more hp, sport seats, +1 wheels, and dropped 170 lbs, I would have loved it too. Instead, they gave us a car that doesn't have AC or Radio either and yet didn't add any power, and with any sort of top solution, lost a grand total of 51 lbs for about the same % increase in price (6% vs. 7%). Not to just pick on the CR cause I see this Spyder as a better effort than the 370z Nismo, the GT-R V-spec, and the GT3 RS as well (although not as good as the Scuderia, on which you can't even open the windows by the way) and not to pick on those cars b/c at least they make such a car, most manufacturers just throw more hp at the car.
No, its not for everyone. No, its not a good only car candidate. But its a car aimed at enthusiasts - those who are willing to skip some creature comforts - and makes a great sports car even better without throwing 90 more horses at it, and that in itself should be applauded as not many manufacturers are willing to make such a car anymore. But to each their own - I'm just glad I finally started a thread in Car Talk after 7 years.

But if they don't meet that precondition, it will be hard to rationalize the cost of this offering.
