PORSCHE ON FIRE!

Apparently the local Porsche dealer has around 15 on order. I'm not going to defend it's looks, but there's no denying that it's a function of great rear seat space and a practical, spacious hatch which is missing from competitors.
A friend who's driven one raved about it, and I'm going to check one out soon as well. Unfortunately, it's a bit pricey for my budget, so I'll just slum it w/ my M3.

The performance and driving experience is invariably very, very impressive. But, damn it's ugly. esmith51 hit the nail on the head. It's a pregnant, bloated 911 that just doesn't look good.
The cost is very, very high too. I predict Porsche will sell very few of these cars.

Its like that giant Bimmer X6, it can put up really impressive numbers, but still looks like a dump I once took.

Looks can be important, but a car is meant and designed to be driven, not just stared at. Whether or not I'd pay the Porsche premium I don't know, but I have little doubt it's very rewarding to drive.

I can get 95% of the performance out of a CTS-V for 40% the price and it won't look like a upside down, dead, bloated frog. Or if you must have German a new M5 for 2/3 the price. I'm out.

I don't doubt Porsche will sell every Panamera they make (although I'd love to be proven wrong.)
It's gotten to the point where the numbers don't even matter anymore. Most of these cars are going to end up being driven around town by rich wives who couldn't care less about 0-60 or lateral G's as much as they do about being able to have the ______est Porsche out there.
The Cayenne was ass-ugly when it came out too and we all know how that turned out.

I dont know quik. Check out the motorauthority link. It appears the pre-orders almost match their first year forecast. Which is about 20 per state if allocated equally. They're expecting to triple that thereafter. The performance is definitely enough for me to look past the aesthetics.
