At this point F1 is so out of touch with reality I doubt it helps sell many cars.
I'd rather Porsche stay out of F1 and stay in racing series that I enjoy watching. I watch F1 about as much as I watch NASCAR these days, which is to say never. F1 has become sterile and boring because of technology and money while NASCAR will always be boring as a result of driving around in circles.

It is unfortunate what happened to F1. Proper road racing and rally events have always been more fun. Unfortunately, rally is very hard to show properly on TV.

You know the Real Joke is Nascar ! This watered down mess is just complete crap on a massive scale . I mean come on I remember when I was about 6 or 7 yrs old and turning on the tv and seeing a stock car race with the Plymouth Superbirds with those big rear wings and they were even going over 200 mph and thought to myself how are they ever going to beat this spectacle! Well we all know now that they can never recapture that !!!! Cars all look the same go the same speed 189 mph . Gee 33 yrs ago they were going faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Smokes what is wrong with that picture
F1 may be a little boring but the cars are the stars ! 900 plus horsepower , 19,000 rpm. weighs around 1300 lbs . Who would not want to try one of those out!
Last I heard they would go 0 to 100 miles and hour in 3 seconds . That is performance that destroys almost any other race series in the world except maybe NHRA . The costs of running in F1 though are absurd and Porsche does not have that kind of funding!!! So that is why you are not going to see them there.

Either way, what is fun about watching a car race on TV? Talk about the biggest waste of time ever! I'd rather drive a go-kart for 20 minutes than watch Monte Carlo on ESPN2. How can a grainy in-car video feed of Schumi compare to a spirited run in a Red S2000?
People don't get into NASCAR because of the cars or even the sport. It's all about the drivers and their antics, and the soap opera, it's fun as hell to go to the races, it's affordable, and intrinsically blue collar, even the stars of the sport are relatively accessible. And some of the same could be said for GT racing where Porsche has a very strong presence.
NASCAR: drama, political incorrectness, fecundity, God and country
F1: elitism, tight-assed insularity, nationalism, commercialism, la

Porsche clearly has engineering and financial resources that seem much better suited to Sports Car and Endurance racing than for top tier open wheel racing. At least based upon their last attempt at F-1, AND their ill fated attempt to get into CART engine building. That engine was a complete Disaster after being so hightly touted.
That being said, Porsche does continue to build amazing race cars for the more average Joe (if you call being a millionaire average) with the series of 911 GT3 race cars.
And Unlike Lamborghini, who has never really had any sustained success at any level of motorsports, Porsche cars do bring home their fair share of trophies year in and year out.

For those that actually answered my question, I thank you.
For those of you that needed to insert negative opinion on F1, you're sure entitled to but that's not what is being discussed here. So go lay down somewhere.

Personally I would rather see them invest that $100 millioon in R&D then some racing series I will never watch.
...unless you were talking about some new type of cup holder that hasn't been invented yet.

Porsche was in F1 years ago. Im too lazy to get exact dates but here is a 1961 Porsche F1 car. I am almost certain they won a constructors(engine) title in the past

The reason Porsche is not involved now is for several reasons
COST
VW. Because they are the Marque Figure head, has decided if the company enters modern F1 they will enter as VW.
