for the FX35/45. I think the cayenne is good for porsche simply because it will allow the kind of revenue necessary to R&D cars like the Carerra GT. as long as Porsche keeps doing what it does with the sports cars, i don't mind it having an SUV to pay the bills. However, i have a bit of trouble justifying the monstrous weight of the Cayenne, it should have been a lot lighter. 90K bills is a lot for a "utility vehicle" too.
neither is particularly utilitarian for the skiier who has to run out to the car to escape a storm and jump in wet and sweaty after a powder day...

FX35/45 = yes please.
Porsche SUV = hell no! Unless you are a young single guy trying to pick up the honeys, this is stupid. The only other exception is if you are a die hard Porsche fanatic (Porsche tatoos & garage shrines) that owns at least another semi valuable Porsche or are so insecure that you need the most expensive and fastest SUV on the road(AMG G Wagen?).
Spend the money on a 911 4S and the rest on a MDX. If you need to tow, get an Armada instead.

well, he's got a 996 turbo, so no reason for a C4S...
If it's for utility, there are much better choices than either of these. I mourn for those who buy P cars as status symbols.

We own a Turbo Cayenne, and I'll just say the thing hauls a$$, some people have a problem with the way it looks, personally i think it looks much better in person than in magazines or on TV. I drove it for quite some time in Europe this summer, and I have never driven an SUV like it. The acceleration is so smooth but incredibly rapid, you forget you are driving such a heavy SUV. If you want an SUV that no other SUV can touch, most cars cannot touch, and is a blast to drive, i would recommend it greatly.

You need to give more details about your priorities in a SUV. Obivously performance is of importance to you. Tell us which of the following is important.
1. Off road capabilities
2. Ground clearance.
3. Storage space.
4. Fuel economy.
5. Safety features.
6. Reliability.
Personally, I would think a the Cayenne S or a Touraeg would meet your needs.
