The 911 body and chassis alone is worth $6500. I'm not a fan of the setup, but I'd buy it for the car itself, and do something different later.

Why would you NOT post pics of the engine? It must be one nasty looking swap. Seller should have given more details about the car.

That car should sell for over $10K. That conversion is pretty clean. Just the conversion parts alone are close to $4k. However that car is a 1980 and will need smog in california so this conversion is not road legal.

I'm currently putting a 500hp SBC in a very light 1970 911. When completed the car should weigh less than 2500lbs. This will be my first 911 conversion. A 1970 is smog exempt.

I have done a couple of V8 914s. I like the V8 914s better. Being mid engine the 914 V8 can still handle very well even with the extra weight on the v8.

Adding 200lbs to the rear of the 911 doesn't help handling.

silversprint - I remember you haveing the 914 V8 now.... I had one too... I bought mine completed.... it had the original transaxle in mine and felt like it was ready to explode at any moment.

this 911 does look pretty clean to me too....he posted some pics of the engine yesterday. I asked about the drips below the engine in the pictures..... I didn't think the 350ci was any heavier than the porsche motor? I thought it just sits up a little higher.

Here are some examples from the conversion shop:

911

993

The engine bay doesn't look so bad with a SB350 sitting in there, but judging from the wheel well gaps in the eBay car and others, the F/R balance is upset very badly and would need to be compensated.

How do you effectively cool that thing? Where's the radiator?

OK, I like the good ol' Chevy V8 and all...but a carbed 350 in a 993? I can't get into that.

The engine is definitly heavier than the stock 3.0 liter that came in that car stock. The 3L weighs about 420lbs.

The early engines were lighter because they were magnesium cases.

However a V8 with aluminum heads should be close to the weight of a turbo 930 motor.

I sold my V8 914 but I do have a 73 914 I'm trying to turbocharge. But first have to deal with the regular body and rust issues.
