Porsche 718 Boxster & Boxster S Switch to Turbo 4s

That's why you have warranty...
If you're wanting to keep it a long time, I'd stick with the old normally aspirated engine. It'll probably hold value better, be as reliable or possibly more reliable, and still be plenty quick.
If you want max performance, the new one is a no-brainer. The new turbo'd base Boxster/Cayman is as quick or quicker than the last generation Boxster S/Cayman S, it seems, especially in real-world driving where you're not always at higher rpm.

Have you considered getting a Corvette instead

It's a sad time for me who is beginning to shop for Cayman S's. Do I scramble to buy a 6 cylinder 2016 as they quickly sell away or settle for a new, 2017 turbo 4?

Yes, I am considering a C7 with magnetic ride, but having spent a lot of time at the C7 forums, the owners are complaining about the paint quality, the fit and finish, and the build quality of their cars. Also, I just love the beauty of Porsche, there's something timeless about those cars.

I think the styling of the 718 is a step in the wrong direction. I must prefer the 981's look. So if it were me...

Drove a PDK S this morning. The four is no joke. I loved it. Did not even have a sports exhaust but sounded fine by me.
I think I would understand how if you LOVED the sound of the flat six you might miss that part of it, but the car was a freaking hoot to drive. The new steering rack is mighty quick. The car just darts into the next lane if you want it too. You can spook the living crap out of the salesman with a quick pitch into the next lane, but no scary drama from the drivers seat. High speed on a tight curvy road would be unreal in this car.

I knew this car was quick when I drove it. So this C&D test puts the 0-60 with PDK at 3.5 seconds.
I already bought my Cayman with the old six and am pretty happy with it, but that is pretty fast for $65k to start.

Impressive time! And after seeing how fast the new 991.2 911 is, it's not at all a surprising time either.
