anyone care to comment on the upcoming Pontiac Solstice GXP. 260 HP, 260 lb./ft. torque, 3.73 rear axle., 18" wheels, 0-60 "under 5.5 sec" I know I know it's a G.M. but sounds like it could be real competition for the S2. Have not seen pricing but I would expect low $ 30s.

Are you kidding me? Stupid comment.
It is definitely competition and if I didn't love the S2000 and not like the Solstice's styling, I'd hop on that wagon because I bet it'll be a better performance value than the S2000.
Edit: Oh, and it already seems like it performs better. Can't say for sure, though, but to say it's not very, very good competition is stupid.

If that's the "REAL" number, I'd say we have a problem here!
It just a fact of life, S2000 been around long enough already. Soon or later competitors are gonna catch up, whether we like it or not.
Deal with it.

now now now, let's play nice!!! I had a feeling this would strike a cord with us die hard s2 fans. Maybe this will be the catalyst Honda needs to take the S2 to the next level, or discontinue it. The competition is heating up and Honda will need to respond. Let's face it Honda really has'nt done anything dramatic since the car was introduced in 99' which only speaks to how great the car was from the very beginning

There are a lot of cars that are faster and quicker then the S. Heck, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is quicker then the S.
Yes, the GXP will be a performer and will cost around the same. The Saturn Sky will also be the same way when the Red Line version is released.

I actually like the solstice and look forward to the GXP coming out. I like my S more don't get me wrong, but it's not bad to have another good performing roadster out there. I just wonder what suspension upgrades will be done to the GXP if any?

The gxp will be quicker than a stock s2k in a straight line for sure, just depends how well they tune the suspension. Considering the saturn has been tuned by lotus, i expect the gxp will have a comprhensive suspension package and will rival if not better the s2k.
