Default Plunked some money down on a 2005 Z51 Vette

I just put down money to order a new 2005 Z51 Corvette.

I'll be selling my s2000. I loved it, she has been a great car, very fun to drive and I'm sure I'll miss her. I should have never test driven that Z06.

I'll still come here find out what's going on this is a great community.

Just curious, what happens to your status if you sell your s2000?
Do I turn into an enthusiast or am an still an owner?

I'm curious, how do you rate the C6 Z51 vs the C5 Z06?? Does the Z06 feel lighter and/or more powerful?

Do you have a feel for the run-flats (C6) vs the Non run-flats (C5 Z06) ?

I don't like to test drive unless I'm going to buy something soon.

Sorry, I disagree. I testdrive as often as I can. It motivates me to work harder.

Unfortunately I haven't driven the c6. They don't let you test drive them unless your really interested in buying that particular one. None of the cars they had were what I was looking for.

This wasn't a problem becaue I tested a Z06 that was broken in with 9000 miles on it. It should be very similar to that car. That really sold me on the vettes. It felt like my motorcycles acceleration without having to restrain anything. On a bike your keeping the front wheel down. In the vette you just floor it. It feels much heavier than the S2000. It's doesn't wrap around you. I love it's technology. It seems very balanced and didn't squat much. Now that was a Z06 and the Z51 may be a bit more cushy. They seem close in performance. I've heard they differ by only 2 seconds on Nurburgrings big track.

The most important factor is that my fiance started to hate the s2000. When she trys to sleep in it on the way home at night her head bounced up and down. The Corvette is quite a bit smoother whiles still giving great performance. The head rest is much softer for her so she thinks she'll like it a bit more.

I don't think it will be as precise a car on the track. The s2000 you can put anywhere and slide it around anywhere. I'm a bit worried that this cars weight will be a handful but with practice maybe this will be just as intuitive as the s2000.

Thanks guys,

Glad I can still be considered owner/former owner.

Who knows someday I might get a used s2000 again.

That is utterly ridiculous and probably something you wouldn't be dealing with if you were anywhere other than L.A.

With that said congrats on the new car, I'm sure you will love it...especially third gear.

You'll still be an S2000 "owner." I traded in on a Z06 and I'm still an owner.

Could someone remind me what a Z51 is? Is that the convertible version of the base C6? I'm not that familiar with Chevy's Z codes. Thanks
