S2000 is a much better design to my eye.
The Solstice does look good in motion where it takes on a radical look thanks to the squat proportions and with the high shoulder line, accentuated by the high mounted taillights and tall wheels. The details however don't work nearly as well with wishy-washy rounded curves and poorly integrated corporate grill.
The S meanwhile is a very thorough well conceived design. I always loved the way the headlight surround carries over the hood through the shoulders and into the rear trunk. And that this crease is perfectly mirrored by the shape of the mirrors. The rocker panel cutouts is another favorite area, which really lightens the side profile.
The S does have a few bad angles, mostly related to the windsheild which can look too upright from some perspectives, but in fact the glass is quite swept back so this is really just an unfortunate illusion.
In general the S is a very well proportioned car and one of those rare designs that really seems dictated by what's underneath. A great example is if you've ever seen an S without the front fenders on, it looks like a little formula car. They also did a great job of making a front midship design that isn't too looooong in the nose.

But if looks only is the measure I think I might prefer the looks of the Saturn Sky to the S2000 although that might get me banned.

It depends,you throw the Ap2 lip and rear wing,and a nice drop,and the S2000 wins.Stock for stock,IMO the Solstice/Sky win.The S2000 is starting to get dated,especially the rear.

Design aside, but some people think it has a mediocre suspension? I guess unequal length upper/lower a-arms with coilover shocks is considered mediocre these day?
Granted some people have called the stock suspension a little soft [especially on the base model], but the optional Z0K suspension fixed those qualms, and the aftermarket can also remedy that. Besides, how many people on this board kept their suspension stock?

The Solstice suspension is more than capable.
Also, a LOT of people leave their S2000 suspension alone.
