If the vette came with seats befitting a sports car that would be a start. my lowly evo IX has much, much better seats. also i've never liked the look or feel of the steering wheel. Just those two things would go a long way for me. i'm not too picky. i would take some function over form, especially when the form isn't great anyway.

The article was awful, IMO. But, just because something is successful doesn't mean it's great or can't be improved on. We can all list a bunch of things that have sold well that suck..not saying the vette sucks, but you get my point. But, what do I know...i'm the resident viper fan-boi.

[QUOTE=NuncoStr8,Oct 16 2009, 09:49 PM] So basically, you think it's cool to say the interior of a Corvette sucks because it isn't "edgy" or "new wave" or "pushing the boundaries."

mdy,

I think you are making some good points. I understand the Corvette people being defensive as well. Many people seem to be critical of false things in the Corvette yet forgive the same flaw in another car. For instance the panel gaps in the Corvette are just as good if not better than those in a Cayman. However, Porsche, did a decent job (not great job) of integrating those gaps into the design of the interior. They look like part of the design rather than a limit on manufacturing. Audi is actually particularly good at this.

By engineering measure the Corvette interior is generally good. Where it fails is just as you said, not being as good as it should given what went into it. Personally I appreciate the tactile feel of the materials and controls so the bland styling doesn't offend me too much. However, I can see why others are underwhelmed. I don't think GM should have gone so conservative on the inside. I really respect that GM was trying to be forward thinking and forward in design when they did the original C4. In concept sketch form I think the C4 interior is generally very good. However, it wasn't executed well. The C6 seems to be the other way. It was generally executed well but wasn't styled well.

In the end I will defend the Corvette when people say the materials are econobox cheap. They are much better than econobox. However, I certainly have seen econoboxes such as the Civic where it seems the designers were given more latitude.

I hope the C7 styling is worthy of the materials they are willing to use in the C6. The second gen CTS shows what happens when GM takes the material quality used on the first CTS and gives the designers the latitude to do something creative!

Incidentally, I don't know why the Corvette got the seats it has but apparently most of the available production seats can't fit into the car hence the reason the CTS-V has racier seats than the ZR1.

I think you should all chip in and buy me a new C6 Z06 and I'll do a full review.

I'm not even a drag racer, but this makes me care less and less about the interior

I don't think the Corvette really needs anything "fixed." It sells fine as is, and I'd love to own one. Too many 'elitists' here without the cash to buy one.
