The Corvette has stayed at basically the same weight since forever.
I am a self proclaimed C6Z fanboy.
I just wish I could have bought a different GM product that provides me with the enjoyment that the S2K does..with all the benefits of the GM products: Cheaper overall price, easier parts to obtain, etc.
my total statment before you took it out of context was suppsoed to mean:
"I want GM to make a lighter (other type) of car that can compete with the other lighter cars"

I don't get what all the bitching is about related to the interior of the base vette.
On one hand you have some saying that the car costs too much in base trim. On the other hand you have someone saying the car has too much plastic and that it should be more like an M3 in terms of interior quality for the price. And lastly you have most folks happy with the way GM has been able to keep the car under 3300lbs....
If you were to install an M3 quality interior at least one of two things would happen that would open the flood gates for even more bitching about the car.
A: It would no longer weigh less then 3300lbs
B: It would no longer cost $50K
The last time I checked an M3 was quite roomy in the hips (ie..heavy) and also costs substantially more then the average vette.

And the 3 Series interior is getting dated itself, not sure I'd model the vette after that.

I doubt a single major plastic part is AC Delco. I think Delco no longer makes GM radios. I think the newest are Clarion or Panasonic.

Looking at Delphi's website it looks like they are providing the radios for a number of GM's older models. I'm not sure who does the newer, nicer radios such as the ones used in the Malibu. Those are quite nice.
Edit: It looks like the navigation one is Delphi. Not sure about the non-nav radio.
Either way, I'm glad GM is making good looking radios for other cars.

Don't blame Delco if you don't like the looks of their radios. GM provides significant input to what they want (cost, specs, looks, perf., ergos, etc.), and they negotiate until GM provides their approval. If it looks like crap, it's prob. b/c Delco had an aggressive cost target to hit.

I don't think the car costs too much, it just needs to compete better interior wise with everything upmarket to it that it can beat on a track.
