considering there are no copyright protections for companies in China, it isnt surprising that the manufacturers just re-doctor an already existing design. Less time spent coming up with something new.
There have been a few websites that show direct comparisons. They even said the Chery QQ and the Daewoo Matiz I think it was, were so identical you could replace the entire door panel from one to the other and it would fit PERFECTLY.
Shameful.

My first question is, do they have a different manufacturer for every car model? Here's the list just from that page alone:
-BYD
-Shuanghuan
-Huanghai
-JAC
-Haima
-FAW
-Geely
-Chang'an
-Chery
-Brilliance
-Hafei
-Soar Automotive
-GreatWall
-Roewe (the former British Rover)
14 total makes. Are you kidding me? And they're beyond copying at this point. Someone should sue them because they seem to be raiding ships full of parts made for other companies. That Pontiac Torrent/Lexus RX350 hybrid thing is so obviously copied, they had to have simply bought the parts off the manufacturers of them. How can you copy something so exactly simply by measuring it? Maybe a drum scanner and AutoCAD?
As for the company logos, I don't know that the Chery one is so much a ripoff, but it goes without saying the A-in-oval doesn't make any sense and appears not to symbolize anything.
The whole thing is a charade if you ask me. Some of them look halfway decent, but then you've got the Soar example, what appears to be an almost Rolls-Royce sized machine, riding on a 90 inch wheelbase and sporting 14" wheels. Or the SMART car ripoff with 5 extra inches of ground clearance. If you ask me just about every other car maker in the world should band together and launch one massive lawsuit against the Chinese automakers. They aren't sorry for copying anyone else's stuff.
I have no problem with China upgrading its economy, but man, get some originality please.
