I'd love one in Orange, especially since Honda never deigned to bring Imola to the States.
So 05S2K,why did you go with the coupe and not a convertible? Do you think you'll miss having a convertible?

Reread his post - he said a lot more than that.
He said (and I quote directly):
1. He has a Ford Mustang.
2. It's a "hell of a lot better car" than anything else the world was selling in the USA at the time.
3. The only cars that "come close" are the WRX and base 350Z (bar none!).
4. Those cars don't have a V8 because they don't have the know how for the price.
Please read my response again. He may have compared to the Civic but he still said his Mustang was a "hell of a lot more car" than a base 350Z that will run rings around it on a track (stock) and still be faster (on average) in a straight line.
The 350Z was high 13s/low 14s at 98-100 mph (as was the S2000) and the best GT was typically low 14s at 95-98 mph in the quarter mile. Generally a lower trap speed plus a higher elapsed time for the GT (with it's oh-so-special V8), not to mention it was oldschool technology elsewhere, it was ugly inside (hideous, really), and pretty much only a bargain if you were modifying and/or drag racing.
A used S2000, 350Z, or even an older STi would handily beat his car in every sense possible (stock), retain better value, and probably hold up as well or better in the long run. Better car, bar none? Right!

I've owned a Civic, and for the same price, I have TEN TIMES the car. Honda fans should be embarrassed, not harping on American car buyers.
Also, I was responding to Chris S's post not yours.
Also, he threw in 'for the money.' Depending on what he paid I guess it could be somewhat true, but then again....you are probably right. He's like the anti-dyhappy and they both get old!

Maybe I should keep quiet, but Mustang best car in the US (please ) I'd rather have a goofy looking, slow, RX-8 than a Mustang and I'm not even a RX-8 fan. I would buy a GTi in a second no questions over a Mustang (and I'm not a FWD fan).
But hey, thats just me. But it's just funny how other people think otherwise and I guess Ford knows it's market and a lot of people buy Mustangs. It's funny I see about 10 Mustangs in my neighborhood (about 200 homes). Some guy people have more than one Mustang.

RX-8 and GTi considerably slower in a straight line.
The RX-8 should outhandle the Mustang, but it would probably be pretty close with the GTi.
The Mustang will probably get better gas mileage than the Mazda, and not as good as the VW.
Overall quality is probably about the same for all.
Mazda and Mustang probably about the same in price, Mustang maybe a little less expensive. Not sure about the GTi. Resale % probably pretty close as well.
I think the new Mustang is a better looking car than either of the others, but that's just what you like and you've already indicated that you don't particularly like the look of the RX-8. The Ford and has a much bigger after-market.
From a nuts and bolts, dollars and sense, logical perspective I just don't see the choice of the Mazda or VW unless there are other subjective criteria at work.
Like I said, just curious.

Eh, For 25,000 it's not THAT bad. I mean c'mon a decent driver will pull high 13's consistantly in a Mustang. The 350z is much harder to launch (wheel hop). They're both high 13 second cars it's just much easier to do in the Mustangs solid rear axle. In every thing else the 350z kills the 'stang. Better handling, brakes, build quality, luxury.

id buy a new GT over a RX8, and a 350z. for a guy that likes to fiddle with cars like myself, the GT is a gold mine of tuning. nissans build quality has never impressed me, and the RX8 is a joke, no need to expound on that. if your looking for a fun cheap DD, the GT is hard to beat.
