Default Picked up my 08 Z51 C6 Today!

Picked up my new 08 C6 today. All I have to say is............What a car!!! GM has done a hell of a job with this car. I am totally amazed!!! So how does it compare to my old S2000.

What I like:

1. Handling - simply amazing, Z51 suspension gives the best of both worlds. S2000 felt more nimble, mostly due to the size difference. I feel more confident in the Vette though, it's not as darty as the S2000. Need more seat time in the Vette for a true comparison.
2. Steering - much improved over the 07 Vette I test drove. Has more road feel and is more linear. My S2000 had a more direct feel, easier to tell what the front tires were doing.
3. Shifter - still a little notchy but better than I expected. No comparison to the S2000 though. GM has a long way to go to match the snick snick feel of the S2000 shifter.
4. NPP - Could be a little more vocal but I still haven't pulled the fuse yet to allow the baffels to open up at lower RPM. Overall a good option for some one who wants a nice exhaust that won't cause you to go deaf.
5. Fit and Finish - simply amazing, GM really has done a nice job with this car. I can honestly say this is the first car that I have purchased that is absolutely perfect. No paint blemishes, no orange peel, nothing. All the panels line up perfectly too. Really an outstanding job. My S2000 had the dreaded bumper line up problem and one small paint blemish. Still the fit and finish on the S2000 was excellent.
6. Power - Im being a good boy and following the break in procedures but I can just tell this sucker wants to MOVE!!! You can really feel the low end torque in this thing. I can't wait to get some more miles on her and see what she can do!!! No comparison to a stock S2000.
7. Looks - the combo of the Machine Silver, comp grey wheels and clear top really looks bad ass. I had two different people ask me if it was a Z06 because of the wheels.
8. Seats- very comfortable and I have the 1LT seats. The seats in the S2000 had more lumbar support.

What I don't like:

1. Interior is a little stark with the all black. I'll have to turn to the aftermarket for some dress up items to take car of that.
2. Not really a dislike but I'm still getting used to the fact of not having an actual key to start the car with.
3. Skip shift - whoose idea was this any way!!! Must get a tune to get rid of this.

I absolutely love this car, it's a dream come true for me. I never ever thought I would be able to afford a Vette but with my supplier pricing I was able to make it happen. I miss my S2000 and had a lot of fun with it. I can only hope the Corvette will give me as much or more enjoyment.

Now all I need is the weather to give me a break so I can get out and enjoy the car. It's been a long wait (since August) but I have to say it's been well worth it.

Thanks!!! The wheels are actually a factory option, the comp grey split spokes. A $395 option.

Congrats! Looks great! Welcome to the family.
A Hurst shifter took care of the shifter feel in my C6, cheap too at about $150, give it a try. The Hurst is was more aggressive than any of the other aftermarket shifters available shortening shift throw by about 45%.

To get rid of the skip shift you don't need a tune. Do a search on a vette forum, all it is a 5 dollar resistor from radio shack. Once broken in, and skip shift no longer skips you will be impressed. BTW, I traded my S2K for a CTS-V. Very happy, but I will be back to get a project S2K in a year or so. I like small cars

The car is a base 1LT with the Z51 suspension, comp grey wheels, NPP exhaust, and tranparent top. Total MSRP is $50,260.00

With supplier pricing I paid around $46,000 including taxes and tags.

Very nice. Vettes will NEVER have the shifter feel of the S2000. The transaxle location of the tranny doesn't allow it (long linkage).
