I actually do wash my car in self serve car washes too. And I agree with that long comment, but the cloud18181--- whatever's comment is not there anymore.
And answer me this, forget about the Veyron. Lets take a normal sports car like the TT,370z or say IS-F. What is better, taking it to such a place, wash it yourself, and be cautious about not damaging the paint. Or taking it to a car wash where a bunch of minimum wage paid workers rush to make your car look clean?
Answer that, and I believe that would be your answer for the Veyron too, PROPS FOR THE OWNER FOR TAKING CARE OF HIS CAR.

I will agree that these cars should be shared and shown off to people. It is so frustrating that people who buy all these nice cars store them in their garages and never let them see the light of day
BUT,
From where I was reading the article, it sounded like the owner was going to use the brushes that they have at these places. At my local one it's just a foamy brush and soap comes out and you scrub your car, well if that is what he was going to do then I applaud the car wash owner. I won't even use those things on my winter beater. They have so much stuff from previous cars stuck in them. All he would have done is scratched up his whole car and would have been an idiot. If he was however just hosing his car with soap and then rinsing it and the article was wrong, then I see no problem however.
I don't really think it's a fact that people are snobbish. Just makes me die a little inside to think someone would scratch the hell out of their Bugatti to save a couple bucks.

What is wrong with him wanting to wash his own car?? I always go to those places. Just makes it much easier. Bring your own shamwow for drying and a sponge thing to wash it and good to go. Give him props for washing his own car.

"Upon inspection, it turned out to be the real deal — one that Will reports was upsetting to the car wash's owner: 'He said if they take the foam brush to it he would turn it off and make them leave.'"
To me, that reads as if the owner was going to be upset IF he used the brush, but no indication he did use it since it doesn't say the owner turned off the water etc.
