Wow. That's why I love this site- all of your informative answers saved me the 90 minute drive up to the closest maser/ferrari dealership, not to mention the possible hassle if I had actually bought one.
I also decided to lay off the 996 tt cab. The 997's are coming out soon, and I just can't justify a $150,000 'extra' car. Thanks.

my dad bought a used 1984 biturbo in about 1987ish....for about $12k.... he sold it less than one year later for $4k to the dealership that was working on it.
we picked it up, he paid $1200 for repairs...about 2 miles away something broke and all hell broke loose..... we returned with it and they ripped up his $1200 check and gave him $4k..... he just happened to have the title with him.... what a heap!
I think it had 15k miles on it..... ready for the grave yard!
hell the things weren't even fast either.... 180hp or so... .bla....

LOL... I owned one of those very briefly.

I know a guy who knows a guy with a maser coupe 02 or 03. All I know is it had to be towed twice. who knows, could be one bad example, but I don't think so.
If you get one keep a cell phone handy and get AAA-Plus service

Italian cars are more problematic than most cars, but this is not to say that all cars are trouble free. If you like the looks and like to drive like a mad man, all the time, then an Italian car may be just what the doctor ordered. Prices have stablized on the '02-'03's and many for sale still have low miles. Just get an extended warranty and enjoyl
Comparing an 02+ Maserati with an 1985 Biturbo is not a good comparasion.

The most important thing is to keep up with the scheduled maintenance. I've never been stranded with any of my Ferraris. Not even the Daytona. Mind you, maintenance is not cheap, but overall I've had more problems with my Porsche Cayenne Turbo. I've been left stranded, and had lots of small and some not so small electrical problems.
However, it might be wise to choose a manual, and not a cambiocorsa. Problems with the sequential gearbox, without warrantee, could be expensive. Like with buying a second hand Ferrari, you have to have a PPI done by a third party. If they dont let you, just walk away. Also, do not get a cheap car. Buy the best one you can afford.
