Porsche is a type of car that time doesn't really hurt (to me) because I love their styling, and if the style changes in a few years, so what, it'll still look like a brand new car

I still see 993s and their design is soo different, they still look like they could have just rolled off an assembly line

but the thing about AMG is that it is an AMG!! These things are the just monsters and they are also beautiful, I'm still in love with the old E55 Hammer, they are both great cars

but which one has the most APPEAL??

One thing that does worry me is that the current SL will be around as long as the previous SL...something like 12-13 years. They were very similar whether you bought it in the early 90's or 2001. And I personally don't think that it is classical styling right now. I think the old SL's look nasty.

V6 to compared to a V8.
Boxer-6. And the two turbos do make up for that lost displacement.

Nothing beats the sound of a Ferrari at full throttle and high RPM's.

Actually, it's a boxer. The terms are used interchangeably in Porsche's own literature.

it depends on what kind of car i was looking for. if i wanted a "sports" sports car, then itd be the porsche hands down, but if i want a powerful stylish luxury car then i'd get the sl55. though with the porsche, i'd want another car to have for daily driving, whereas the sl55 i would use every day as well as for fun.

If you are talking about the old R129 SLs such as the 90-96 models, I would have to agree. The lights, bumpers, wheels, two-tone paint, etc., made the car look like ass. But if you think the 97+ SLs, especially the Sport models, were "nasty", you need to slap yourself.

Reasons I chose an SL55 over a 996 911 Turbo:

-It's just as fast, if not faster
-It's more luxurious and has a crapload more features
-It's much less common, especially around here
-Timeless, beautiful looks. Sorry, but I still think the front end of the 911 Turbo, while not ugly, it not exactly "good looking."
-Having a coupe and convertible at the same time is nice
-Not a fan of Porsche's interior styling
-Badass exhaust note
-I don't give two shits about how it performs "in the twisties" or on a racetrack (tieing a 993 911 Turbo S on the Nurburgring is good enough for me).
