Default Which one?? =996 Twin Turbo (X50) or SL55 AMG?????

Ok people,

I was just thinking about this and it made me wonder which would I pick??

The Awesome Sports Car or the Godzilla of Grand Tourers???

They both have exceptional numbers in every category, about he same top speeds, but still they live in two separate worlds.

Which would you ???

Porsche has always been my dream car and always will be. I hope to own the X50 some day. It is like a GT2 engine in a AWD layout.

The standard SL500 we tested last April was certainly no wraith. When the readouts on the C/D scales finally settled, the tally for that one stood at a resounding 4172 pounds. That's SUV territory, but even so, the AMG version is heftier: 4411 pounds. What's the deal? Weight is the enemy.
Slushbox + 4400 lbs vs. 6-speed MT and 3400 lbs....

I think it depends on what your goals are, certainly both cars are fanstastic, both in performance and price.

I would probably take the Mercedes if I had another 911 (GT3 anyone?) to beat around on, it is the better highway and traffic cruiser, being an automatic and all, not to mention the incredibly loud noise level of the turbo because of the tires. Very irratating on journeys longer than say 100 miles.

Regardless, if you are in the market for a TT 911, do not buy the X50 package. Similar if not better gains can be had for around 6 grand after the purchase and you can still retain your factory warranty.

we have a GT2 and an SL55. I don't like the SL55 at all and the GT2 is the best car i've ever driven.

SL55 goes like stink, but you'll never know it because the computers do everything for you.

Porsche please, but make that an air-cooled 993
