Isn't there some roadster argument that says a roadster can't have an attached convertible top? It's not a roadster if you can't fully detach the top? Or was it the top has to be erected over an assembled frame? Basically one of the definitions I heard ruled out the S2000 because the top was too easy to operate!
Roadster, yet another in a long line of imprecisely defined automotive terms. Now who wants to argue about the definitions or "struts" and "coil overs"?

The Elise is also not a roadster
Some say, as long as it's a convertible (yes, you can remove the roof off an Elise) and two seater (once again the case), then that's all that matters.
*shrug*
But yeah, I guess some cars are move "convertible" then "roadster", even if they fit this definition...
btw: I think the Elise has the option to have a hard, as well as a soft top. Even though it's removable, there is still the possibility to have a sort of rag which clips on, or a two piece or one piece hardtop which slides on.

Depends what your definition of a roadster is.

Personally, I think targa (like an early 911, Corvette, or NSX-T) is probably the most accurate characterization of it, since you cannot remove (easily) the rear window.
