It should last quite a while. PDK uses a wet clutch, as most dual clutch boxes do, which can stand up to significantly more abuse than a dry one. The liquid helps with friction and thermal deterioration. They are very touchy, but since it is computer/hydraulically controlled it isn't as sensitive as if your left foot were trying to manage it. Of course time will tell how long they last.

Nobody seems to whine about the new Z4 putting on weight... yet there were about 50000 threads about the 370z not losing enough weight.

You have to look at demographic as well. Sure the Vette trumps all with brute force, but when shopping for fun, refined, road-going convertibles (opposed to the absolute fastest on a racetrack) this result is understandable.
For example the TT is the slowest of the group, but can do 0-60 as quick as an S2K. And I know from owning a GTI that those 2.0Ts make the car feel faster than the S2K for the torque/turbo, even in the 200hp version (note: I said feel). Add 65hp, keep in mind that this is just being considered as a fun wind-in-your-hair road car, and it's not so surprising to see why results are what they are, especially considering the other two ahead of the TT are even faster.

I could get why the porsche and BMW would win, one costs a good 10,000 more and the other is an all new model, but the Audi? ugh.
I dunno about the argument of easier to live with, I found that most C5+vette owners found the rides very compliant and comfortable, gas mileage better than our cars, and fewer trips to the dealer getting crap fixed. That to me sounds easier to live with.
