there was a post that said higher rpm does notmean more power... i was not asking about reliability... there is also an s2k here making about 270rwhp with 10k-11k rpm as well and his engine still good. i hate guys who post shit like that... we are talking about s2k here keep the z06 bs out of here

It's nice having a 9k rpm just for bragging rights, but who wants to bet me money that this car with a lower redline and more torque is going to be faster? I'll bet $50 to anyone who thinks the new version is going to be slower. We'll take an average of some magazine results..

exactly and are we forgetting a heavier engine as well.... im not saying the redline in this case makes a diff, but obviously if they went to 2.2 why only 240? with a stroker kit on the 02 you get more than 240.

The engine won't be heavier - it's the same basic engine.

How can you compare a stock motor to a Spoon motor that obviously has many many more modifications? You have a F20C motor that revs up to only 9k that makes more hp than a Spoon motor.

"true' sportscars, more like racing cars most definitely make more torque at higher rpms. It's all cuz of gearing (read post by DavidM) and http://www.datsuns.com/torquehp.htm (wouldn't be surprised if this site was mentioned in this forum, great read!)
A good example are the 17000+ rpm Formula One cars. If producing tons of torque at low rpms increased the car's performance, then I'm sure Formula One race cars (arguably the world's best performing vehicles) would follow this trend. But they don't. So you can come to a conclusion that more torque at higher rpms is indeed a good thing
I'm sure this is what Honda had in mind when they developed the s2k. Also, the s2k isn't the hottest selling vehicle right now. I'm guessing it's probably because the market (general public) isn't too educated about the whole hp vs. torque thing. Maybe this is why Honda started producing cars with more low-end torque (i.e. i-vtec) while somewhat sacrificing the torque at higher rpms (s2200 following this trend now
). It's understandable because most people will be mostly using low-end power on their daily commutes. The s2k DEFINITELY is a true sportscar in every aspect especially due to the fact that it develops most of it's torque at high rpms. I'm sure many people in this forum know this. The problem is, the general public doesn't know this and if they did, perhaps the s2k would be more of a hotcake!
