NSX Unveiling in 4 Hours
#344
I've been playing catch up on this thread (just read the last 8 pages or so) so my comment might seem slightly out of place. However, what's with all the nut hugging for the Italia? It's an amazing car (although one which I find somewhat ugly) but it's not the amazing conqueror you few make it out to be. The McLaren MP4-12C can most certainly hang with it if not out run it. Ditto the ZR1 and Viper. Yeah it has that shrieking V8 but it can't be had with a 3 pedal set up and the styling (to me at least) looks somewhat insect like and sterile. Beautiful profile, but the front and rear just ruin it for me.
While I earlier bashed this NSX concept I will admit that overall the design isn't that bad. However I cannot stand the "Acura" beak, the thought of AWD or a hybrid drivetrain. In my opinion this car should be called something else (perhaps ZSX). And speaking of the beak, how will this car be sold in other markets? It was previously sold as a Honda but unless they change the front how else will they explain the ugly Acura beak? I can see the conversation now:
"What's up with the front of this car?"
"Oh it looks like that because it's sold in the US as an Acura and that is Acura's signature design cue right now"
"Ah....I'm glad they don't sell Acuras here"

The 458 trounces the competition in every magazine comparo I've read. Unless I'm missing something the 458 is clearly the front runner in whatever you would consider its class.

??? Maybe in the subjective categories except for ride comfort. But the Mclaren trounces the 458 in every non-subjective category, price included.

HA! I wish. The DB8 in my screen name refers not to an Aston Martin, but to the 4 door Integra sedan way back when. I gotta change my name the next time I pony up $20 for membership, it's altogether too clumsy to say or type, and everyone assumes I'm wealthy. (I am not).

It makes a decent amount of sense considering the Mclaren was designed at the Top Gear test track.
Also, is Spud going into full on troll mode now? At the beginning he recognized that not a lot of people liked the looks of the car but he for some reason did like the looks. Now he's just being incredibly ridiculous. He's turning into a ZX-10 who loves Crossfires.
