Nice little GT5 video of it also, showing how the hybrid motors work.

as much as i want to look at this in an optimistic way thats positive i still have something bothering me about this.

And that's thing is the fact that this is a far cry away from the original heritage which was a car that was built not for peak power but for driving experience and corner exit and entry, a car which was developed with the aid of top F1 racing drivers which in my eyes are the pinnacle or driving talent. instead we are getting the something with a little jeremy clarkson,"POWWWEERRRRRRRR" and very little micheal schumacher and too much steve jobs. i strongly believe that a tru sports car can be developed that's delivers all without much sacrifice, just look at the carrera gt, all that power and so few emmisions.

just a thought, i think theyr facing the right way but not going in the right direction necessarily.

and if we had solid data, assuming the car is 100K: (after tax)(which I highly doubt) 2005 NSX is already 89,000.00

10K down, 4.99% for 5 years: 1,700.00/month
20K down, 4.99% for 5 years: 1,600
30K down, 4.99% for 5 years: 1,320
40K down, 4.99% for 5 years: 1,140
50K down, 4.99% for 5 years: 950.00
60K down, 4.99% for 5 years: 750.00
70K down, 4.99% for 5 years: 550.00

90% 0f the members posts on this thread will not be able to QUALIFY for this car.
People that buy cars like this, I'm afraid, don't think about the price in terms of monthly payments...

Still think they should have just released a slightly toned down street version of the HSV as the new NSX. None of this hybrid/ auto shit.

Do you guys not realize that this is some ricer's wet dream that was never going to happen? You might as well post a picture of a space shuttle.
Oh boy

Care to elaborate?

So.... What I have gathered is that nothing Honda does with the NSX will affect the rest of their dead in the water models. The NSX must stand on its own, make money for the company and hopefully create a fanbase that will actually buy its cars down the road. Since they should have learned from their collegues at Toyota whose overinflated egos made them produce the lame-duck LFA that their price point is right at $60K that their competition isn't being a halo car, it is a viable sales model, that nobody (in volume) will pay $100K plus for a rice burner. The truth is, japs make volume cars, the italians and the germans make special cars. The NSX wont be special on a world stage until it has proved itself for a few years. Then Honda can move it upscale, until then, it is a zero, a car that can't measure up to a 50 year old beetle derived sportscar. As much as I loved the S2000, I understand that Honda doesn't have the mindset to make a sportscar, let alone a supercar, they only want to make a car to try and change the mind of some people that can't decide between a camry and a genesis to buy an accord. The NSX is a marketing exercise, nothing more. My guess is that just like the LFA, if honda make this NSX, they will lose money on each one.

That is why they should make a cheaper boxster/corvette alternative. They just don't have the juice to pull off anything else.

I was trying to prove a point, that there shouldn't be so many arguments b/c 90% of these members won't be able to afford it.

Now if this conversation is on NSXPRIME, that's different b/c they own an NSX, and waiting for an upgrade or an add-on to their garage.

I wonder if Honda engineers derived inspiration from the Porsche 918 from a hybrid standpoint ? Very similar utilization of the electric motors and both mid-engine designs. Pity this concept does not have a lusty V8 that winds up to 9200 RPM's to accompany the electric motors like the 918 however. I also contend Honda will not have the near instantaneous "sign me up, money in hand" of 2000 consumers who are willing to part with $845K like the 918 did either. The 918 is proof a gas/hybrid super car can work but it is also a Porsche and utterly beautiful. It seems Honda is desperate to have a product that is well perceived and "wanted", time will tell if this is the answer.

Funny, Toyota being the global leader in automotive hybrid technology gives enthusiasts a "conventional" gasoline only powered super car in the LF-A. Honda delivers the hybrid, who would have thought ??

The concept drawings that Sticky posted look like a superleggera with an Acura nose.

No shit! What else was the original NSX supposed to be in 1990?!! There wasn't any of the new technologies back in 1990 (or even 2000). But I understand your POV.

Btw, the original NSX did have new techs for its time: Vtec, aluminum body, etc.

^ I agree with what you are saying, the original was using the latest and greatest, and at the time it wasn't "traditional or classic". And that new tech normally isn't greeted with open arms, especially when it challenges our previous beliefs. I should be the president of the "F**k Hybrids" fan club, but I also look at the new wave of hybrids with careful optimism. I know that the weight gain isn't ideal, and the lack of high reving engine noise is a let down, but I think that we all, my self especially should have at least a small part of our brain that is willing to accept that this COULD POTENTIALLY turn out well.

That said, WTF are they thinking!!! We want to see an NSX, not a hopped up Prius!!!
