Things I would rather have than the new NSX.
2012 Mustang GT/Boss 302

Have you seen the specs for that car?

You must be new here.
New? Hardly. I just prefer things that are fun to drive. I realize this thing isn't available to drive yet...but judging fromt he styling and Honda's past decade of history I'm pretty sure this will pale in comparison to moniker it is meant to replace.

My last post went over your head.... Lol Car talk sure isn't what it used to be.
It must be fun to live in a world all your own. At least you know what the hell you are talking about.
If you ventured into car talk more often you would know that there were a plethora of mustang gt/boss threads. In at least one of those threads i stated i have drove the car and applauded it. Any regular would have known the amount of mustang threads that littered this forum especially comparing it to the m3. So the "you must be new here" was quite appropriate considering how often the specs had been discussed.

Nope, I read the whole thing. You prefer things that are fun to drive, but judging from the styling and [something else], you're pretty sure this will pale in comparison to the NSX. I understood what you said.
I also read this:

Okay, so you've stated your prediction and your opinion.
Care to expound further on why you think that's the case?

lol hybrid.
Trade off is the weight, but a diff/axles can be pretty heavy too.

I can see this car sitting on the LeMans grid in 3 years at the hybrid invitee

After careful consideration I am sure I'd rather have a Boxster S with a 6M trans than a NSX with a DCT, electric motors and whatever other nonsense that Honda can stuff into it. The problem is the NSX seems to be the exact opposite of the S2000. The S2000 was fun and simple. My guess is the NSX will be neither.

The Corvette Z06 is the closest modern "supercar" (ie, high hp, high performance, lightweight) that could be described as "simple" and it still comes with launch control and a number of options (ride control, etc, etc) to make it anything but. Everything else is pretty complex. A 997 GT3 would also potentially fit the bill, overall.
Ferrari 458? Electric nannies and control all around.
991 Porsche? Electronic suspension control, PDK, big wheels, fancy traction and launch control, etc, etc.
Nissan GT-R? Electronic everything - you just have to hang on and turn the wheel.
To get the best, you have to get some electronics to back it up. No one is making anything simple any more at the higher levels of performance.

However, the new NSX is not supposed to be fun and simple like the S2000. This is a halo car that will showcase technology, not simplicity. It will have a high output gas motor, Honda's first DCT, a novel AWD drivetrain, exotic looks and (presumably) low weight as well. It'll be $100K if it's a penny. The S2000 was $35K. Why would you expect it to compare to this car?

not sure you could choose to buy the new NSX

Honda sells enough little shitboxes with good MPGs (to meet CAFE) that their supercar shouldn't have to be a showcase for gizmos, it should be a showcase for affordable supercar performance. I'd rather have 6.0 liters of displacement than 4 liters and some batteries and electric motors.
But that is just me.

Now I've gotta go make a post comparing a used car from the 90's with a new car today. BRB.
