NSX Unveiling in 4 Hours
#121
I think it looks great for a concept-production-ish sports car. We all know the final showroom version will be less ''visually offensive''.
My only concerns are engine noise and ''feel'': I have no idea how this thing is going to sound with the hybrid system and all. Will it be a high-reving engine? I hope they are not just to slap in the TL/RL engine (which is great but not the most exciting) in addition to the electric motors.
I also hope it won't weigh close to 4000 pounds...
It sure looks like an Audi R8 fighter. This is the first time in years that a Honda product has made me smile

"While most supercars opt for brute force delivered from a large engine, the NSX Concept champions the true racing philosophy of an extremely favorable power-to-weight ratio."
They'll use the all-new corporate 3.5L V6 (perhaps a higher-displacement variant of it) with more power than currently available. That motor (in standard trim) is going to have more power than the current 3.7L (305 hp) from Acura, per Honda's previous news release, so I'm betting they'll get 350+ hp out of it in high performance trim. The electric motors will provide the rest of the motive force, probably 100 additional hp. Peak hp will be less than 350 + 100, so I figure somewhere around 400-425hp peak.
An electric motor won't have an effect on the engine sound. The original NSX had a great induction sound from its V6 and I imagine this car will sound quite good as well (nothing like the intake horn right behind your ear!).

To me it doesn't share ANY nsx resemblence. It's like they just built a coupe and called it the nsx. I like the front though.
You want a car that "refreshes" an old look? Buy a Mustang. Or a Ford GT.
But don't blast the designers for moving forward in time with the rest of the world.
Same goes for people who complain about ''cars that just don't drive like they used to''. Duh! Even back in 1990, I bet people complained that sports cars just ''don't feel like the good old days in the 70s''...And in 30 years people will complain that cars today sure don't feel like they did in the year 2000-2010

Things I would rather have than the new NSX.
2012 Mustang GT/Boss 302

Have you seen the specs for that car?

You must be new here.

New? Hardly. I just prefer things that are fun to drive. I realize this thing isn't available to drive yet...but judging fromt he styling and Honda's past decade of history I'm pretty sure this will pale in comparison to moniker it is meant to replace.

My last post went over your head.... Lol Car talk sure isn't what it used to be.

It must be fun to live in a world all your own. At least you know what the hell you are talking about.

Specs? Wait, why did you get an s2k again?
[/quote]
I bought an S2K because I'm a fan of Honda and what they used to stand for, racing.
The AP1 is as close to a no-compromise street driven track car that you'll find from a late model OE manufacturer.
No nannies, a suspension tuned to satisfy the driver and not the accountants and precise shifter and steering feel.
While the new Mustang may not be as light an nimble as an S2K, it will most certainly be more of a driver's car than the monstrosity "new" Honda is trying to pass off as an NSX.
I have the opportunity to drive many, many different cars on track and at autoX...and Ford did an impressive job with the new Mustang...and the 5.0 Coyote is a hell of an engine.

This silhouette could very well be the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro sans the mid-engine and silly Hybrid drivetrain. The rear end looks evolutionary Camaro to me. There is no way this car is sub 3600 pounds either.

I already figured out how to make this car more desirable! Rip out that hybrid crap and V6 and put in the Ford GT's powertrain. I would have said small block Chevy, but since this is a mid-engine car I'll go with the Ford
