This might be a dumb question. Why did they go with a V10 motor? Torque is expected to be at 434lb. Thats almost 200lbs less than the ZR-1. The GT-R handles the 'ring just fine with its alleged 400lb of torque so it dosent worry me so much.

Another guess is that more cylinders provides smoother power delivery than an engine with similar displacement but less cylinders. Don't quote me on that; i remember hearing that somewhere, so possible bs.
Then there is also 10>8. More is better.

After looking closer, I tend to think some of you are right. It's red (or orange) prior to 9K but I'm betting on a 9K ultimate redline. The last 500 rpm before 9K is "warning" on the tach that you're getting close to the limiter.
