This might be a dumb question. Why did they go with a V10 motor? Torque is expected to be at 434lb. Thats almost 200lbs less than the ZR-1. The GT-R handles the 'ring just fine with its alleged 400lb of torque so it dosent worry me so much.

to me it looks like 8500rpm redline.

so v10 600hp 8500rpm and probably 250ft/torque?

One guess is that five cylinders per bank is more balanced at higher rpms. I remember when F1 switched back to V8's they were commenting about how at higher revs there is an inherent vibration in V8 engines. Of course that is at 20K rpms so probably not relevent in a street engine.

Another guess is that more cylinders provides smoother power delivery than an engine with similar displacement but less cylinders. Don't quote me on that; i remember hearing that somewhere, so possible bs.

Then there is also 10>8. More is better.

Some say Nissan under rated their hp and tq#'s.

Honda numbers are just rumors right now.

I think it's orange from 8-9 and red from 9-10.
Either way, it's going to be panty dropping hot sound from 9k vtec from v10

One reason for a V-10 is cylinder deactivation of one side of the V for cruising economy. Just a guess. Perhaps Honda will introduce KERS into the equation as well.

After looking closer, I tend to think some of you are right. It's red (or orange) prior to 9K but I'm betting on a 9K ultimate redline. The last 500 rpm before 9K is "warning" on the tach that you're getting close to the limiter.
