Not sure if it's time to move on

I'm not against selling an S2000 when your needs change (I've sold 2), but it wouldn't make sense for you given the reasons you list and the car you're looking at getting. I've never needed any warranty work on the two s2ks I've owned, and 80k miles is not a problem. Keep maintaining it regularly and don't go forced induction and you'll be fine. The gas mileage difference is negligible.
A paid-off S2k molded to your tastes or a new stock BRZ with a payment. That's such an easy choice.

You can give us all the logical arguments you want, bottom line is you just want to play with a new toy which I totally understand as a car guy.
You like changing cars, you are getting bored with the S2000 even though you still love the car.
So just get another toy, but don't try and make up reasons for you to justify your decision; the wisest financial decision is to keep your S2000 no matter what.

Your s2k is already paid off. Buy the subie/scion, but keep the S. The worst thing that can happen is you finding out that keeping the S was a mistake after buying the other car; then you can just sell the S outright if need be.
Apples to oranges example, but if you paid off your house/living space, would you sell it to buy another house?
