16-17 year old HS students "drag racing" involved.



This is in one county in maryland. I didn't start driving until I was 18. I wish the driving age was raised to 18.

 

I wish the testing required to get and keep a license was much more stringent.

That wouldn't help, instead of inexperienced 16 year olds out on the road we'd just have inexperienced 18 year olds. I can't remember exactly where it was that I had heard they were contemplating raising the driving age to 18, but when I did the first thought that popped into my head was..."Great, why don't they just raise it to 21. Then they can learn to drink and to drive at the same time."

 

In China most of the drivers are "new" drivers. Here we have a lot of seasoned drivers. China has something like 3% of the cars (in the world) but like 20% of the traffic deaths.

 

Little bit of responsibility goes a long way.

I can remember being bullet proof. Did some stupid stuff and got away with it.

One big rule for me was no racing with other people in the car.
