And yes, it is worth the 20K.
To you it is.

Personally I'll take the more powerful and higher-content (and prettier and slightly-less costlier) M45.

BTW, I have heard glowing stories about Infiniti service too, so it's not like Lexus has that idea cornered.

the GS350 is coming for 06. Lexus did this on purpose so the GS wouldn't have the same engine(3.5L V6) throughout it's entire 3rd Gen model span.
I've read a lot of reviews of the GS300/GS430 and although HP was not the only reason, they're usually behind the M35/M45 and 5-series and even the RL in most reviews.

Not to say the GS is bad, but the competition in the $50-$60K sedan category is very good at this time.

I read about the Lexus new trend is to have a lot more "new" models. Like instead of having a face-lift every 3 years they want to introduce a substantially improved car more often. I guess the theory is the people who really want a new GS will buy this year, and next year they'll add a bigger V6 and Hybrid and bigger V8. This makes sense to keep the next model year demand high. Might backfire if people find out about the better engine 12 months away and decide to wait.

Right now if it were my cash and I was looking at a GS, an Avalon would look pretty tempting. The GS only has 20 more horses. It does also look better, but not 20+ grand better.
The GS is RWD or AWD and the Avalon is a FWD car.

The Avalon has (I think) more room than the GS and is 1 sec quicker than the GS300 and has near the same acceleration as the GS430.

If there really is gonna be a GS350, how many horses will it have? 310 or 280?

Once again Honda/Acura trumps all, I'm sorry but for options for the $$ the TL kicks the Avalon's butt. Also the TL has more STANDARD features, more bang for the buck with the TL. PS C&D blows!

I donno the Avalon starts at $26K vs $33K for the TL.

The Avalon has a larger and more powerful V6, plus gets better fuel mileage

Plus the TL is a "mid-size" car (ie. accord) while the Avalon is a "Large" car. From Acura.com TL has 34.9" rear leg room Avalon has 40.9"

IMO your argument could have merit if anything was in Favor of the TL.

TL is more expensive, less powerful, less fuel effecient and smaller. sounds like we have a (fanboi) winner

With comp options they cost the same, but with the Toyota if you want you could buy a Avalon sans options for $7K less than a TL.

Pay attention to what kind of warranty you get with KIA as apposed to Toyota and Honda.
