That car is going to be a complete headache for you, believe me. There's a reason they're giving you that trade; they likely want nothing to do with that car anymore and can't sell it. An S2000 can be flipped easily.
FYI, the reason the S2000 is in a horrible insurance category is because of past dumbasses who crashed theirs. My agent confirmed this -- some years are more expensive to insure than others just because a lot of people wrecked that year. It was actually cheaper for me to insure the 2005 verus 2004....by nearly $40/mo.

Per capita, S2000s have a high rate of accidents and thefts, when a claim is opened on an S, odds are it won't be a simple <1000 job. Thus higher rates.
I remember a while back, a guy I know priced insurance on a bmw 328i vs. an m3 is the same vintage (E36), the 328i was a lot more over the M3. Reason- M3 owners typically garage their vehicles at home and at work reducing liklihood of the vehicles getting vandalized, stolen, or broken into, demograph of the owners tend to be an older crowd, etc vs. the 328 has a lot of high school, college, and 20 somethings owning them.
I remember I priced the Z, the S, a 1.8t GTI, and my EP3. In order, S2000, EP3 (very minimal difference), then a huge step down to the Z and then the 1.8T (800, 780, 650, 620 respectively based on 6mos premium).

w000w. I had no idea they were so affordable now. I'm sure any maintenance or parts will cost an arm and a leg though. If I was making great $, I'd pick one up. Post pics if you get it

The dealer network is small. If you have a problem, you don't have much choice on where to take it. Heaven forbid you're out of your home area and something happens.
