i was planning to get one of those right up until i got married. my wife's in med school, so i had to find something cheaper to buy and maintain.
the styling is ok, and it's a heavy GT not a sports car, but those engines sound SOO good! congrats.

These old Maserati depreciated crazy enough to be affordable. Still don't know how possibly anyone thinks that car is nice looking. Just very odd looking...

It does not suprise me, if you look at the new car guide in the back of TopGear magazine they have the UK insurance group that a car is in. Its a scale of 1-20 the S2000 is in group 20. Even the civic type R is group 17. I know this is a chart from the UK but it probably does give a realistic idea. A miata is group 13. And with my insurance with the same coverage no tickets the insurance on my 2001 S2000 is 20% more than my wifes 2006 MX-5.

My buddy was so surprised when he saw that my S was in the highest category when I first insured it. We tried to think of other high risk cars that might be in the same category and we could not think of a single one. We tried about 30 different cars and put them in the system to see. Even a Vette was one notch down from the S
Of course this does not mean that insurance is less on an S then it would be on a new Vette. Value of the car factors in after the fact as well

Well the look of the maserati is exotic. Not for everyone, thats for sure. But it also seems safer. The S is practically a beer can on wheels. Hence the speed. But that might play into the insurance factor. I guess im just maturing a bit out of the 2 seater that has cost me ALOT of money with parts/tickets/insurance and into something I might put a set of wheels on and be done with it.
I will say that the M128 does not look half as sexy as the new Grand Turismo tho!!!!

when i was looking for a new car i was picking between an s2k, boxster and a TT.. decided no on the TT and was checkin boxster prices, which were along the lines of the s2k, i liked it had the nice porsche brand, mid engined etc. etc. and i was thinking ah porsche insurance is gonna be a ton more though..
Looked it up and it was cheaper to insure a boxster than it was my current (at the time) 98 prelude
