Isn't $40k pushing into the old RX-7 FD3S territory (according to inflation)? As I recall, that's why the RX-7 sold poorly in America. Maybe in this day and age of wear/driving your bank account, the car will sell well.
the RX7/Supra/300ZX TT cars were ahead of their time. if they were introduced now instead of then, they'd make a killing. people were still more inclined to buy a domestic in the early to mid 90s (when these cars were introduced in their final platform).

A factory FI car will never be as reliable as a factory NA car making the same power.

Time has certainly changed. Frankly, people are richer in general now, and the car market has changed as well.

that's purely argumentative. example: a supra with a small single turbo (61mm) on pump gas will make about 450whp. this is very common among daily driver supras. now get a (lets say) 2002 Mustang Cobra (non SC) and mod it using NA mods to 450whp. that will not be more reliable than a supra with the setup i named. the mustang will require heads/cam and other work to reach 450whp, thus limiting its (daily) driveability. then again, thats just one example. im sure there are cases in which you're right as well.

I'm not talking about modded FI factory cars against modded NA cars. I'm talking stock FI vs. stock NA making the same power.

I'll take a 400hp LS2 motor over the 4.6 blown Mustang Cobra motor making roughly 400hp anyday of the week.

There is more plumbing, more parts, and more tuning issues with any turbo car over an easy NA motor. It's just a fact that FI is more problematic.

Factory FI is no more reliable than aftermarket. Otherwise I wouldn't have spent the past 15 years chasing down boost leaks in my factory supercharged corrado and my uncle's 930.

Didn't know an s/c could be disabled with a clutch. I'm not sure how it works, but sounds like a super idea.

well your corrado is 16 years old so its bound to have boost problems. and the 930 isnt exactly "new" either. engines made for boost (factory turbo) ARE more reliable than a vehicle thats built to have an NA motor (but has aftermarket FI); i simply disagree with you.

QUICKAG - and i would take the blown 4.6 over the LS2 any day of the week. they're both gonna run fine if they're new...

[QUOTE=QUIKAG,Oct 14 2006, 12:34 PM] With the cost probably $40k+ real-world, I'd take a new discounted C6 all day long.
