If it is a true CVT, I assume the 8 gears are really just presets to artificially turn it into a non-continuously variable transmission. Seems that a few of the CVT's are doing this now presumably as drivers aren't accustomed, or comfortable, with an engine that just sits there at one rpm regardless of road speed. Heck, you can make a CVT into 6, 8, 10, 20 speeds if you wish. At least it switches quickly. But if left in pure CVT mode, it may be quicker still.

As to the rest, looks just like a normal G35. I find it semi-attractive but too heavy, bulbous and with an ugly tail and lights. The coupe has some promise. But again, too heavy (as is the trend these days).

I'm kinda confused so pardon my ignorance. According to this link that I have of the 350GT-8 skyline the Horsepower is 272ps @ 6000RPM, but the engine redlines at 7500RPM
Skyline 350GT-8 Then in the same paragraph it says
Pumping out 280 bhp, the 350 has loads of low to mid-range torque, superb
Now the 350z has the same engine VQ35DE with a 6600RPM redline, yet it makes more horsepower (287) than the 350GT-8 (280) with its 7500RPM redline. I thought the faster an engine spins the more HP it will make.

That's a misprint. The GT8, like all VQ engines, redlines at 6600rpm. I would really like to see at least a 7k rpm redline on the Z, but we may have to wait for the GTR for that.

Nismo is working with Nissan on the R35 GTR specs, so it should be an amazing machine. I love Nissan, and I would consider getting a GTR in a second.

What's with the four door? Do they take the family racing in Japan?
