Odd that they would want to use an older engine design rather than the newer K series...

doesnt make sense that they would put such a high strung engine in an entry level sport LUXURY car. The engine is great, but its anything but gentle.

The interior pic of the Sports 4 Concept shows a 7000rpm redline, for what it's worth. Honda makes no mention of the engine spec on their website.

Doesn't make sense to me - higher redline and more power but you're losing torque and driveability (for a "family" car with sporting intentions). The K20 would make more sense, though a hotter 2.4L motor is easily doable. I can't see them dropping displacement on a car that needs more of it to compete (in terms of acceleration) with other cars in its class.

It's a great car - I'd love to have one and my brother has one already - but it could use more torque/power.

The rumors I've heard say that the new TSX will get a V6 option...

I love the current TSX but with its weight it needs some more power.

There is no way they'd go from i-VTEC back to VTEC.

Unless they redesign that motor, it would go from FWD to RWD... the lack of torque and more weight to haul would be slooooow. I would also think the MPG would go down on a heavier car....

Highly unlikely...

Nice story, but since the engine for the RDX (due in June ) is still a secret, I doubt we'll know what they'll put in the next TSX due in 2008. Also, the F22 will be pretty old (by Honda standards) by then.

FWIW, it had been suggested to me that the sport 4 is the TL precursor. It does not look like they are planning to mate 4 cylinders to SH-AWD.
