Toyota of germany built a twin supercharged is430 with about 400 horsies. I know lexus designed the is with the v8 in mind as an M3 killer. Ohh the V8 only weigh 20 lbs more because it is aluminium not cast iron like the 2jz.

The 0-60 is more around 7.1-7.5 on the automatic and 6.5-6.9 on the manually shifted version. It's not that fast, but for under $30k, it's not all that slow either, relative to other luxo sedans in its class.
And Lexus didn't shove the Supra TT motor in there because on one major issue.. IT DOESN'T FIT! Not enough room in the engine bay to fit all the plumbing required for the oem twin turbo setup. Some IS300 owners have modified the oem turbo's to fit, but that would present reliability issues which I'm sure Lexus doesn't want in any of their cars.

Why wait for the 430...you can have that kind of power now in it's current form for much less than $55k. There are now several F/I kits out there that will raise output anywhere from 265rwhp to 600+rwhp on stock internals with prices ranging from $3750 to $20k+. Skies the limit with the current 2JZ iron block. I doubt whatever new engine, whether it be in the form of a new aluminum V6 or V8, will have that kind of potential.

lol, where did you guys get this $55k price tag. Is this some sort of effort to directly compete with the M3? If so, I'd have to say THAT'S RETARDED! The whole import market is about smaller discplacement, high reving, light cars. I can't imagine too many ppl that would pay and extra 20k for this car when they could bolt on a turbo and have similar performance. I don't see this flying at all, but that's just my opinion. I'd much rather pay 30k for the car and have 25k to play with. Oooooooooooo how I would play
