Newb Question

If I'm stopping someplace for a while I lock the jacket with a cable to the bike and the helmet's D-ring under the rear. Before I lowered my deductible, I would lock my bike to something using the cable when possible (polls etc) though that was rare other than at work. If I'm locking my jacket to the bike I also run the cable through the back wheel so it can only be rolled a short distance.

Check out a bungee net. I used one to make lots of purchases on bikes that had no luggage. Similar use for a tank bag that you can carry around like a backpack.
You don't ride in the rain? That's half the fun!

my leather pants (raaawwwwr, I know ) wouldn't even really fit, and I'm a 32 waist
MC gear has plastic parts in it that do not fold too well

When I ride to go eat... I take my helmet and gear with me. Just put them on the empty seat next to me. But as far as watching movies or shopping... I do not take my motorcycle. I only ride for pleasure, sightseeing, for fun... I don't like the idea of leaving the bike outside where it's easy to be stolen. Like my friend's bike was stolen off the lot in school... Never heard from again.
Sigh...

Just wear the gear. I personally never lock my helmet to the bike. It's a 500$ piece of fairly fragile equipment. If someone were to be a dick and hit it with a big stick it could make the difference between the helmet working properly or not come crash time.
More relevant is that if it storms your helmet can get mildew inside of it within a couple hours.

I wear the gear. Occasionally I'll put the gloves under the passenger seat but that's only because they sometimes fall out of my helmet when I'm walking around. I'll go into places in shin-high boots, riding pants, jacket, and helmet in hand...I'm not about to leave $1300 worth of gear strapped to the bike with just a tiny cable lock.
