That's interesting... I just pulled out the latest edition of Road and Track. Here is what they have to say:
Carrera GT: 11.3 @ 131.6, 3.6 sec 0-60
Ford GT: 12.2 @ 121.6, 3.8 sec 0-60
Carrera GT: 11.3 @ 131.6, 3.6 sec 0-60
Ford GT: 12.2 @ 121.6, 3.8 sec 0-60
Anyway, here is the link http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_...tro/index5.html

That IS odd. That GT must have been on steroids like Rafi

I never really read Motor Trend and remembered the numbers in RT being in the 12's, which is why I never considered the GT a supercar. If it actually does run low 11's, that's an entirely different story.
How about we rent one, take it to the track, and see which of us is right?

The Ford GT CAN be made faster than the stock Z06 with a simple supercharger pulley and computer chip swap, but I believe, stock for stock, the Z06 is going to be faster.
Of course, once you go modified, everything is thrown out the window. Of course, I'd take the Z06 and $75k I saved by NOT buying a Ford GT and, oh, slap a Ligenfelter twin turbo setup on the Z06 and pray to the good Lord that I can keep it straight through 4th or 5th gear.

Well, the current C5 Ligenfelter 427TT package is traction limited up to 4th gear even with 335 pilots on the back! The local Ligenfelter shop here in DFW has to do acceleration runs starting in 4th gear. Their top tuner guy got a ticket recently doing 4th gear pulls on streets around the shop. A run from 25mph to 85mph takes a few seconds and a cop zapped him. Bummer.

The people who prefer the GT3 are the ones who can't afford the GT2.
So if one prefers the narrow body C2 chassis over the widebody and hearing a higher reving naturally aspirated engine over a turbo sucking in air it's because they can't afford the latter?

On topic, has anyone bothered to even read the threads on the corvetteforum and Z06vette forum?
The majority in both locations are skeptic of these times and hardly anyone is arguing that the Z06 will be able to keep up with the Ford GT in a straight line. Stock for stock I just don't see it happening. These numbers suggest 590hp at the flywheel and I hardly think GM would underrate the car by that great of an amount. We already know the GT was underrated.

I'm not sure if everyone here remembers a couple of months back when there was a post for the "Fastest Accelerating Production Cars" ... from the list of vehicles the Ford GT is posted as a 11.6 @ 128 mph from Car and Driver ... the Porsche Carrera GT does it in 11.0 @130 mph ... while the Ferrari Enzo is in the tens at 10.8 @ 135 mph
