Do you have any idea how many BMW owners on the bimmer forums have actually owned S2000's? A LOT! I dont have to defend JDM there as you would expect. They don't prefer the BMW because of the few tenths on the street. They prefer it because it feels better all around. The brakes feel better, the steering is MUCH better, it sounds MUCH better, and it actually feels more balanced amongst a few things.
The IS looks classier, is more reliable, and has an interior that is fantastic. That's about it. There is an IS within spitting distance of me that I can drive.
y2ks2k has had problems with the BMW owners because he dosent know how to talk to people. Simple as that.

- Nope.
They don't prefer the BMW because of the few tenths on the street.
- I was thinking track times... street performance between the two marques is barely discernable from my cheap seat.
They prefer it because it feels better all around. The brakes feel better... etc...
- Purely subjective in the realm of street, every day, real world driving.... on the track, advantage, BMW but not by all that much.
The IS looks classier...
- Again, purely subjective... I would submit that the BMW line presents a classier look much like the s2k captures the essences of a pure classic sports car... While I really like my IS, part of the appeal to me is it's kind of quirky... goofy in a good way.
My only point is that the IS is a very, very fine care based on my past experiences of owning and living in the real world with a 2002, a 914 2.0 and 914-6, an Audi Fox, an A4 and comparing those experiences with life with my TLS, my Civics, my Accords, my Tacomas, Nissans, and most recently two IS350's... even test drove a handful of 3 series BMW's before jumping into my 09 350... for the real world and avoiding frequent encounters with Frtiz in the German car service departments I'll take a Lexus any day.
You say tow-may-toe, I say tow-ma-toe... bottom line is they are all fantastic rides, it boils down to how much you want to put up with to enjoy them.
Peace
